Jack McKelvie has recently shared a guide to setting up naturalistic foliage wind that can be used with both stylized and realistic environments. The artist has also shown how you can create a material to dynamically modify the vertex normal direction of an asset.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make very naturalistic foliage wind that can be applied to both stylized and realistic environments. As a bonus, I’ll show you how to make a material that will allow you to dynamically modify the vertex normal direction of an asset. This is useful for many things including fixing the normals of grass, modifying the tree trunks to give smoother intersections or even removing lighting seams between the terrain and intersecting meshes.
I’ve also included the project files for free. Pick them up here.
