Gil Damoiseaux has shared a series of experiments with liquids in Unity.
The artist has tried recreating the #Alyx-style liquids in bottles. He noted that it's a "single surface shader, no compute shader, no CPU physics."
Gil has also presented a cool beer bottle with bubbles, foam, and a better bottle model.
The third example is a bottle with a sticky liquid with stickiness fading out over time. You have to admit that the studies look pretty impressive.
The artist was kind enough to share details on his process and you can find his quick breakdown here.
For those of you who missed the story, a recent Alyx update added bottles with liquids inside them that react to the player’s movements. If a player shakes bottles hard enough, it may cause some types of liquid to foam. You can find the original story here.
