A wonderful detail.
August Håkansson has an exceptional eye for detail and always makes sure his work is both functional and stylish, leaving a lasting impression on the player. This is another update for his ongoing project, Beyond The Plastic Wall, featuring a subtle point light that follows the hand, a simple trick to enhance interactivity.
Earlier, we featured his technique for creating a lighting system that doesn't rely on Global Illumination, and more recently, he shared a noise-based parallax shader he developed for background clouds, which can also be used for rendering rain and snow:
Also, have a look at this satisfying video of assembling a lamp, the vegetation distribution system, the grass system, and a functional modular synthesizer:
August frequently shares development updates on his X/Twitter page, so follow him and wishlist Beyond The Plastic Wall, an atmospheric narrative puzzler where you'll embark on a journey across a mysterious continent, making your way to the last city at the end of the world.
