The game's developer has showcased a cool new mechanic created for an upcoming platformer.
Indie Game Developer, known only as hatebreeder6494, has recently shared a brief demo showcasing an impressive new mechanic created for their forthcoming puzzle-platformer game, being created with Unity.
For context, development on the game began in late May after the developer completed Unity's Roll-a-Ball course. Inspired by the 2004 classic 3D puzzle game Ballance, developed by Cyparade and published by Atari Europe, the game challenges players to roll and jump their way through a series of obstacles, solving movement-based puzzles in the process.
Over the past few months, hatebreeder6494 has been actively sharing work-in-progress demos on Reddit, offering insights into the gradual shaping of the game. The most recent demo highlights a cool new mechanic, allowing players to take control of other non-player balls, introducing the potential for a variety of puzzles. According to the developer all the movement is done through a combination of AddForce and AddTorque to rigidBody.
