Check Out This Indie Anime High-School Action Brawler

A Brunei-based studio is making a Unity-based RPG brawler set in a Japanese high school in the 90s.

Studio Tubanar is a new indie game development studio based in Brunei, currently making Project Sugar, an action brawler RPG for PC and consoles.

According to the developers, the game is set in a small Japanese town in 1997 and follows the journey of a transfer student who faces hostility and persecution at her new high school.

Here's a WIP build showcase made with Blender and Unity:

Studio Tubanar is currently looking for a 3D Character Artist, 3D Character Animators, Visual Development Artists, and 3D Environment Artists.

What they offer:

  • Independent contractor agreement
  • Fully remote work environment
  • Any software subscription will be covered
  • 4-day work week, Monday to Thursday
  • Expected work hours per day are maxed at 6 hours
  • Flexible meeting schedules

If you're interested in similar to Project Sugar's nostalgic retro anime aesthetics, we also recommend checking out these beautiful Blender animations made by オギノ, Tunnel Rat, and Virendra Kumar.

Another curious anime-style Blender artwork is a fully procedural 3D eye, a technique that would look great in a classic Makoto Shinkai-inspired project:
