The Quixel team shared a new livestream recording that will show you how Jonathan Holmes set up his recent forest scene.
|In my little part of Florida, back in 1995, these woods existed behind the house of someone who was a friend of mine at the time, wrote the artist about his project. "The wooded area wasn't perhaps more than two tenths of a mile long, more like a strip of forest that had yet to be turned into another single-family subdivision. That's what it is now when I check Google Earth, sadly, but at the time it was one of the most glorious things I had ever seen."
Basically, Jonathan wanted to recreate a precious memory of a place that no longer exists. Watch the full one-hour breakdown to get tips and tricks for creating a forest environment in UE4.
Please note that the scene was created in 18 hours using Megascans, 3DS Max, Unreal Engine, and SpeedTree. Make sure to discuss the breakdown in the comments.
