Look at the level design behind some points of interest.
October continues, and so does Blocktober – an annual online event where artists show their early level designs. Today, let's take a look at what Apex Legends had on its maps when they were full of blocky unfinished shapes.
Respawn's Level Designer Aaron Stump shared some points of interest he made for the game. The first one is Quarry:
"The fiction behind this was these mechs were going around the map and harvesting ferrofluid. Gameplay wise having teams stacked and extreme verticality."
Next is Observatory, which was cut from Season 21 but stayed in Stump's memory and portfolio.
"With S21 I broke lots of rules of Apexs typical design & that was 100% a fight I took until the end. I don't like designing with a check box & I wanted to shake things up with the update."
The designer showed his other works on Apex Legends on his X/Twitter and might do so again in the future, so if you're interested in level design, check it out.
