RANGER COMMANDO will be released in August this year.
Dirk Boer is a solo developer who wants to create a cozy game, but sometimes, things don't go as expected. Luckily, their "failed" attempt turns into something that looks fun and heroic.
So, here is presumably the first trailer of Ranger Commando, a nostalgic '80s-inspired isometric tactical shooter inspired by titles like Metal Slug and developed with Unity. The indie developer had spent free evenings during the past two years working on the game, hoping to bring players a small game for quick and replayable fun.
You are tasked with tackling World Peace Industries, the former leading weapon manufacturer that has become a global threat. "Explore randomly generated missions, assassinate officers, free hostages, blow stuff up," the game description says. Each campaign consists of ten missions that can be played in various locations and each mission lasts less than eight minutes. It's up to you to choose the style to tackle objectives, whether it be stealth or full-frontal chaos.
The bullet trail effect showcased in the trailer is definitely stunning. Plus, the game would bring lots of fun if you love damaging things. You can install a bomb on a door to get into a room and throw a canon to watch barrels and enemies being blown away, who got into crazy screaming. And speaking of the enemies' voices, which add significant character to the game, everything from whistling to screaming has been performed by voice actor Steven Landes.
