Although a prototype, it boasts comparatively complete skills design and combat action.
Reddit user ivanShiv has created a game prototype with Unity. The game has a concept that allows players to enter the inside of a mech and pilot it to fight against kaiju. The combat showcased occurred in a vast desert-like area in a seemingly post-apocalyptic setting, and you can shoot laser beams as you move to dodge attacks.
The first-person perspective, plus the cracks on the front window when being hit by the enemy, has brought lots of immersion. Although a prototype, it boasts comparatively complete skills design and combat action. Besides shooting bullets, the kaiju also has the skill to smash the ground heavily with its arms to create spikes that extend toward the direction that may cause damage. Details also include the sands disturbed by the movement of your mech and accompanied by the effect of a fog trail.
The developer is seeking feedback on their idea to determine whether it is worth further development into a full game. Many people are expressing a desire for the mech to be significantly larger, as this would definitely enhance its cool factor. One suggestion for scaling could be introducing tiny creatures or vehicles alongside the mech.
If you enjoy this concept and have some ideas for a full game based on this concept, don’t hesitate to leave a comment under the post. The developer just released a pixelated shoot 'em up with roguelike elements named GUNFIELD. Don't hesitate to check it out on Steam if it's your type of game.
