Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was released on February 2, 2024, less than a month ago, and it seems that the game has already become a disappointment for its publisher, Warner Bros. Games.
During a recent earnings call, Warner Bros. Chief Financial Officer Gunnar Wiedenfels stated that the game didn't meet the expectations the company had, which would lead to a "tough year-over-year" comparison. You may recall that Warner Bros. published Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software, last year, which became the best-selling title in 2023.
"This year, Suicide Squad, one of our key video game releases in 2024, has fallen short of our expectations since its release earlier in the quarter, setting our games business up for a tough year-over-year comp in Q1," stated Wiedenfels (via IGN).
Before its official release, Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League had faced numerous delays, but eventually got its launch this month. On Metacritic, the game has a score of 60 from critics and not-so-pleasant-to-see 3.7 points (out of 10) from players.
Speaking of Steam, the game has gained the "mostly positive" status, with over 80% of positive feedback. As for concurrent players, the all-time peak landed at the number of 13,459, which was set 22 days ago.
