The initial goal of the project was to capture the Floating City's buildings in an efficient and reusable modular kit.
Game Art Student Tom van der Veeken has unveiled Venice: Calle Del Riccio, an impressive 3D environment inspired by the buildings and canals of Italy's Floating City.
Created using Maya, ZBrush, Substance 3D Designer/Painter, and Unreal Engine, the project started off as an efficient and reusable modular kit, but was eventually turned into a fully-fledged 3D environment with two distinct lighting scenarios – a darker and gloomier one, inspired by The Order: 1886, and one that is brighter and more vibrant. According to the artist, all of the scene's tiling materials, trimsheets, and most foliage were made "100% in Designer".
