This Cozy Eco-Conscious Game By An Indie Dev Living On An Actual Boat Is Coming Soon

Spilled! will be released in three weeks.

Spilled! is a cozy indie game with pixel graphics where you clean up ocean waste and pollution. Such an idea comes from its developer, Lente, who created this game while living on a real boat. Now, this game will finally be released very soon after two years of hard work.

If you missed our first article about it, this short game offers around an hour of playtime or longer if you unwind, during which you'll explore eight different areas at your own pace. Each area is getting bigger, so your little boat needs to be upgraded to get ready for the next journey. Clean oil spills, get rid of plastic, recycle to earn money and upgrade it. There are various biomes that you can travel through and encounter and save sixteen animals. It's quite simple but can be a great place to visit and relax after a long day.

A demo version is available to try out. I felt extremely satisfied when getting rid of a large area of black oil floating on the sea, along with smaller leftovers. I love how my actions helped restore the ocean's cleanliness. With marine animals like clownfish and turtles swimming beneath the surface, it was a peaceful and fulfilling experience.

Lente

Lente has paused school and bought this boat to live on while focusing on pilled!. As the development evolved, the game became more complete over time, as proved by this video sharing how it looks like at the beginning and 1.5 years later:

Although the game is available in an isometric view, the developer also tried another perspective, the top-down, which looks great:

Spilled! will be released in roughly three weeks. And if you enjoy this little eco-conscious game, don't hesitate to join the other 50k players and wishlist the game on Steam
