This Blender Tool Displays Real-Time Shader Node Output Previews

Inspired by the Node Preview add-on, Shader View simplifies your shader creation, making it easier and less frustrating.

If you're tired of constantly switching nodes to the material output just to see their effect, Shader View will make your workflow more easier and intuitive by showing real-time output previews right above each node.

Navigating shader trees can be challenging, particularly with complex materials. Shader View provides real-time previews for each node in your material, rendering them in the background to maintain smooth performance, even in large projects. According to its developer, ShaderError, the add-on works seamlessly with animated shaders and remains efficient even with node trees containing over 200 nodes.

With customizable settings for each node, you can adjust the preview of every node individually, ensuring Shader View functions exactly how you want it to. You can modify the render sample count, switch between EEVEE and Cycles render engines, and toggle the lighting mode, which is particularly helpful when working with normal maps.

For a limited time, you can get Shader View with a 20% discount on Gumroad by using the code SHADERPARTY.

ShaderError explained that they were inspired by Simon Wendsche's Node Preview, but this tool improves upon it with several enhancements:

  • All settings are independent for each node, giving you more flexibility to tweak things;
  • Works with animations;
  • Allows to adjust performance settings, reduce response time, and disable extra features to run smoothly even on older PCs;
  • Highlights the active output socket for convenience (when there are multiple choices);
  • Features logic to avoid overlapping rendered previews;
  • Affordable;
  • User-friendly interface.
