A fun Geometry Nodes project by noveldrum.
3D artist noveldrum has shared a sneak peek of their latest Blender project that transforms meshes into stacked bricks.
This creative setup was made with Geometry Nodes and might be available for download one day once it's fully ready. For now, we can enjoy the overview of its abilities: simple but powerful. You can adjust the size of the bricks, their number, and the distance between them. The affected objects can be neat or messy, depending on the bricks' rotation.
"I'm just using mesh Boolean to vertically slice according to the bounding box, tidying up the intersected edges, and placing bricks along them. It feels relatively light since they're instances, but I don't use it, so I plan to release it eventually," noveldrum said (machine-translated.)
I can already see how environment artists would appreciate the tool if it appeared in marketplaces. What a satisfying way to create buildings!
While you're waiting for its release, check out noveldrum's other works, like this awesome procedural 3D anime-style shaded city.
