Mariano Steiner imagined the famed demon living a low-key life in Toronto.
As difficult as it may be to believe at first, second, or even third glance, what you see in the image above isn't a highly dedicated and eerily tall cosplayer enjoying a concert, but rather what has to be one of the greatest 3D character models in the history of CG art, created by Digital Sculptor and Character Artist Mariano Steiner.
Boasting exceptional realism and attention to detail, the artwork depicts the iconic demonic investigator Hellboy embracing a low-key life in Toronto after being laid off from the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense due to AI bots. Now, he leads an average middle-class life, visiting different places, attending concerts, and roaming free from his past bonds.
According to the creator, this personal project was conceived with the goal of putting a unique twist on the artist's favorite characters, with Mariano planning to explore a "multiverse branch" with more works moving forward.
When it comes to software, the creator hasn't shared many details, only indicating through ArtStation tags that the production of his Hellboy model involved the sculpting software ZBrush and the rendering program Arnold.
