Game developer Dmaw presented a cool effect with no magic.
Comic books and manga have never been as immersive as with this 3D take.
Over a year ago, game developer Dmaw showcased some interesting 3D manga-like panels they made for their VR game. This time, the creator went further and made the customizable frames hold separate worlds in a way that it looks like magic.
You move the panels and objects inside, but they don't overlap. What is this sorcery? According to Dmaw, the effect is "just 3D objects masked in world space."
The warm reaction to the project made the developer consider a Tiny Glades-like 3D manga builder game where you could make "chill environment panels or entire stories with custom characters." Perhaps, we'll see something interesting one day.
