There Will Be No Content Road Map for THE FINALS

"We better hold off with that sort of stuff and make promises we can keep."

Many developers of live-service games used to craft content road maps, sharing with fans their plans on how studios will support the game. These plans could outline the future of a certain title for a year or even longer.

However, as Axios pointed out, this level of transparency has become scarce as studios recognize the intricacies of sustaining live-service games and the unpredictability of long-term strategies.

The same goes for THE FINALS, a free-to-play team-based shooter released by Embark Studios during The Game Awards 2023. Talking to Axios, Gustav Tilleby, the Creative Director of THE FINALS, said that the studio would rather keep all their plans to themselves since they don't want fans to fuel false hopes.

"We better hold off with that sort of stuff and make promises we can keep," he said.

Speaking of the game, THE FINALS, developed by former DICE veterans, had a successful launch. Even after almost two weeks, the shooter continues to attract over 100 thousand concurrent players daily on Steam, having a "mostly positive" status there and more than 74% positive feedback.
