Take Closer Look at Characters from South of Midnight Trailer

Rodrigue Pralier helped Compulsion Games shape its heroes.

A week ago, we saw a story trailer for South of Midnight, an upcoming action-adventure developed by Compulsion Games, and now you can examine the characters from the video a little closer thanks to Rodrigue Pralier, a character artist who posted some of his work on ArtStation.

"I loved working on all these amazing characters and help figure out how to make them look alive in the game," he shared.

And alive they look in the game's almost painterly style achieved with ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, and Unreal Engine.

South of Midnight is a third-person adventure from the creators of We Happy Few, a promising game that, unfortunately, didn't land where I hoped it would. You play as Hazel, who is called to become a Weaver – "a magical mender of broken bonds and spirits." Get ready to subdue horrifying creatures of Southern folklore and explore their magical world of memory made real.

"Explore the mythos and confront mysterious creatures of the Deep South in this modern folktale while learning to weave an ancient power to surmount obstacles and unravel your family’s hidden past."

The developers promise beautiful visuals, a touching story, and immersive music inspired by the history of the South.

Pralier was one of the artists behind this wondrous place, and you can find his other works on ArtStation.
