A new wonderful project by Jolan Huijskes.
3D Environment Artist Jolan Huijskes showcased this spacious Japanese scene created with Unreal Engine, Blender, Substance 3D, and Photoshop.
The artist drew inspiration from the real-life photos of Yamadera and recreated the vermilion architecture, contrasting with the vast blue sky, with the majestic mountains and forests. The Buddhist papers and birds make this place feel lively, enhancing the realism.
Jolan Huijskes noted that the vertex-painted peeling effect stands out as a key feature, which contributes to the graphic fidelity. According to the artist, clouds are free VDBs from JangaFX, and the foliage was taken from Quixel, with some adjustments to make it seamlessly blend into the scene.
