Star Citizen Dev Reportedly Laid Off Top Executives to Meet Deadlines

Three top-level employees were reportedly let go.

Cloud Imperium Games

Cloud Imperium Games, the developer of Star Citizen and Squadron 42, has experienced restructuring among its top management to meet its deadlines.

According to a report, several top management employees have been laid off, while some other top executives' positions have been changed. Reportedly, three executives with a combined experience of 25 years were let go. It is said that there will be an official announcement of their departure.

Chris Roberts, the company's CEO, reportedly said in an internal announcement to employees that to meet the release of Squadron 42 and Star Citizen, "it is more important than ever to ensure we have high-performing and efficient teams working throughout the company. In order to achieve this, I have had to make changes to the structure of our teams from the very top of the company and downwards to ensure we have the right people in the right roles, working in person as much as possible from our most critical year yet."

A round of layoffs at Cloud Imperium Games started in November when a former studio's employee allegedly shared that the company "is letting a lot of staff go over the last two days with zero compensation right after working them to the bone without even much as thanks."

The biggest cut needs to be Chris Roberts himself. If not for his OCD, the game would probably be fully released by now
