Also, the company reportedly plans to reduce third-party studios' involvement in their game development.

According to the latest reports, Square Enix is preparing for a significant revamp of its game development processes due to stagnant sales.

As Bloomberg wrote, President of Square Enix Takashi Kiryu, informed investors that the company plans to introduce a new structure by spring 2024, set to be implemented by April, aiming to boost the overall quality of its games.

"We are reviewing from scratch what the organizational structure is, and what the best way is to implement the contents of the pipeline," Kiryu reportedly stated (via VGC).

Bloomberg also noted that Square Enix plans to shift its focus towards developing games internally and reduce collaboration with third-party studios. The goal is the same to enhance game quality and maximize profits from their titles.

Speaking of the Square Enix financial results for the nine months up to December 2023, there was almost no growth in sales, with a 4.7% decline in sales from its digital entertainment business, a rather unexpected outcome given the release of Final Fantasy 16 in June.

Earlier, we reported that Tencent apparently canceled Square Enix's NieR mobile game, as there wasn't a suitable monetization model.
