The artwork was inspired by Disney and Unit Image's "The Little Duck" commercial.
Julien Rollin, a CG Artist and Student at Creative Seeds, a French VFX and animation school, has unveiled Afternoon Fishing, a peaceful and serene 3D environment depicting a relaxing riverside meadow with lush vegetation and tons of eye-catching details scattered throughout the scene.
Inspired by "The Little Duck", a 2018 Disneyland Paris commercial produced by Disney and Unit Image, the environment was set up in Houdini, Arnold, and Nuke, with the goal being to learn more about SideFX's flagship software and how it can be leveraged for environment art. Furthermore, the project also marked the first 3D scene Julien has ever made.
"A huge thanks to Yoann Leong for his precious help with Houdini/Nuke," commented the creator. "Also, thanks to all the Illogic Studios folks for giving me the opportunity to do this project internally and the CG Lounge and wzx servers for their outstanding and invaluable feedback! Special mention to my CG Supervisor, Gabriel Grapperon, for pushing me to undertake such a challenging project!"
The creator has also shared a couple of WiP videos, showing the production process behind Afternoon Fishing:
The camping chair asset seen in the final render is also available for download and can be accessed for free via the author's Sketchfab.
