Watch a match while watching a match.
Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 is around the corner – from January 9 to January 12 – but some companies are eager to show their inventions ahead of time. Samsung has revealed its first transparent MICRO LED display.
As apparent from the name, you can see through the screen but have images appear in front of you as if by magic.
"Combining superior craftsmanship with six years of tireless research and development, this new modular MICRO LED wowed attendees with its futuristic design. The Transparent MICRO LED’s crystal-clear, glass-like display has revolutionized the viewing experience and attracted the attention of global consumers."
While transparent displays are not a brand-new technology, you can see from CNET's video that the previously known OLEDs do not provide such brightness and transparency as Samsung's MICRO LED does.
What's the use of such a screen? Well, you can watch, for example, a soccer match and have the score (or some ads) in front of it. Or you could keep an eye on two events at the same time.
Whatever the intention, transparent MICRO LEDs are not yet available for purchase, and it's hard to say how much you'll have to pay for such magic. I'd wager it won't be affordable for an average user, but we'll have to wait and see.
