The game reached the milestone faster than the previous 4 games.
Discussing its Q2 financial results, Capcom reported that since its release on May 7, Village managed to ship over 5 million units worldwide. Previous Capcom press statements also revealed that the game reached the figure faster than any other Resident Evil entry in the last decade.
Here are some other numbers to compare results: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard shipped 5.1 million units in April 2018, (15 months after the game’s release).
It took The Resident Evil 2 remake 11 months to reach the same number and the last number reported for the Resident Evil 3 remake was 3.6 million copies in January this year, suggesting it may not have reached 5 million yet. The last Resident Evil game to beat the result was Resident Evil 5, which reached the goal in four months.
