The release also introduces faster cropping, a redesigned project list, and a seamless switch between automatic and manual capture.
Epic Games and the Capturing Reality team have officially rolled out RealityScan 1.5, an upgraded version of their free-to-download photogrammetry app for Apple and Android devices, introducing a swath of new features designed to make your workflows more efficient and convenient.
The highlight of the release is RealityScan's new feature that allows its users to easily download processed 3D models directly to their devices for local storage or sharing. On iOS devices, downloads are available in OBJ format, while on Androids, they are available in GLB format. Please note that projects created with previous versions of the app will need to be reprocessed before they can be visualized and downloaded in 1.5.
Moreover, with this update, cropping now happens on your device instead of on the server, making it almost instantaneous. You can also now crop your models using a cylindrical volume, ideal for round objects such as vases and tables.
On top of that, the enhanced version of RealityScan comes with a redesigned project list, boasting a fresh new look that is not only more visually appealing but also more functional, allowing you to view the size of each project and apply filters for easier navigation.
Other features include:
- Seamless switch between automatic and manual capture: You can now toggle Auto Capture on and off directly from the capture screen, without having to go to the app's Settings.
- Optional sharing on Sketchfab: Sharing your scans on Sketchfab is now optional. After processing your model, tap the 'Share on Sketchfab' button if you want to showcase your work to the community.
- Image count in gallery: You can now see how many images you've taken while you're in your project's image gallery.
- Photo export from gallery: You can now export your projects' photos from the gallery. Just tap the export button to export all images, or select specific images first.
- Scanning quick start guide: Achieve better scans by following the advice in the new quick start guide. To access it, tap the '?' icon shown at the top of the screen while capturing.
- Numerous bug fixes.
