Like Switch 1, its successor won't have this platform-wide option.
As officially confirmed, the successor to Nintendo Switch will not feature the achievement system.
In a recent interview with Polygon, Vice President of Player and Product Experience Bill Trinen was asked whether the new console would support achievements. His response was brief and definitive: "Nope."
Much like the original Switch, the upcoming console will give third-party developers the option to implement their own in-game achievement systems, but Nintendo itself will not be introducing a platform-wide feature. The anticipation for a unified achievement system might have been sparked after the announcements that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom for Switch 2 let players win medals on the app.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for release on June 5. The console is expected to become "the biggest launch in game industry history," potentially surpassing the original Switch in sales – despite a higher price point.
