Tides of Annihilation is set in a shattered modern London and will be released to Xbox, Steam, Epic Games Store and Steam.
The latest PlayStation State of Play brought us new game announcements that we can look forward to, and one of them is Tides of Annihilation, a fantasy action-adventure with hack-and-slash elements set in a shattered modern London.
The game, inspired by Arthurian legends, is made with Unreal Engine 5 by Eclipse Glow Games, a Chinese development studio that was founded in 2021 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tencent. There are now around a hundred developers, some of whom are veterans of top game studios.
"Players will take on the role of Gwendolyn, who wields the power of a mysterious gray mist that can manifest two spectral knights at her side, with players required to strategically choose which knights to summon based on their preferred gameplay style and the challenges they face," reads the game's introduction on the PlayStation blog. The modern London setting will "coexist with echoes of a medieval past," meaning that players will also be able to dive into a "medieval world of ancient magic and mythical creatures. "
Tides of Annihilation is said to offer around 30 hours of content, providing more than 30 unique boss fights. Besides the official reveal trailer, the game also received an 11-minute extended gameplay walkthrough showcase:
The game is still in development and is said to be released to Xbox, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Steam at the earliest in 2026, according to a Chinese gaming outlet.
Obviously, due to a mistake, this just-revealed game appeared on the Xbox Store and was available for purchase at $22.49 (spotted by Wario64), a price that attracted some to buy it but got a 300 MB file, which unsurprisingly didn't work. Now, the purchase button has been removed.
