Gaston Ugarte shared a closer look at the tower.
Gaston Ugarte, a set modeling supervisor and art director at Pixar, showed what Alberto's hideout from Luca looked like before its final revision.
You can see the tower itself and the props inside up close in Maya, as well as what happened to them after lighting was applied.
"Alberto’s hideout was my favorite project on Luca. I was responsible for modeling the tower and the props inside," Ugarte said on Instagram. "This is how I usually present my work to the director in Maya before it gets shipped to shading & lighting. Followed by some final shots from the movie. I try to add basic colors & lighting to the scene for mood and to give the director an idea of how the space could look down the road."
Ugarte has contributed to a variety of projects during his 17 years at the company, working on Coco, Brave, WALL-E, Toy Story, Up, and more. You can see his expertise on Instagram:
