It all comes down to Slavic Magic and vodka. 

Slavic Magic launched Manor Lords a few days ago, and the game has already become a hit among players, boasting over 150,000 concurrent players on its first day and having over 88% positive feedback on Steam. The title is praised for being a fun and immersive medieval city builder with lots of potential.

While the name of the studio's new game, Manor Lords, makes sense, have you wondered why Slavic Magic received such a name?

According to the founder of Slavic Magic, Greg Styczeń, who primarily handled the urban planning strategy game, occasionally hiring freelancers to assist, the studio's name was inspired by a meme from The Witcher 3 and Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2017.

The meme pokes fun at BioWare's struggles with the high-budget Andromeda release, hinting that a better-quality Witcher sequel was created with vodka and Slavic magic (that's exactly what helped the game, as some joke). However, as we know, the CDPR game had a budget exceeding $80 million. Anyway, Styczeń, as an indie developer from Poland with a limited budget, was inspired by the meme.

"The inspiration was the meme you might have seen about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt labeled the result of 'Vodka and Slavic Magic'," Styczeń shared in an interview with Epic Games. "It really resonated with me as an indie dev from Poland with a small budget but huge passion."
