Inside UNSEEN: Ikumi Nakamura Offered an Exclusive Glimpse of Her New Studio

Ex-Bethesda director Ikumi Nakamura has shared a brief virtual tour of the UNSEEN office, the workspace that was created with the help of Unreal Engine 5.

Last year, former Bethesda director Ikumi Nakamura revealed that she launched UNSEEN, a new studio which, according to the founder, is set to enter a variety of mediums "beyond the realm of video games".

Although details on the studio's projects are scarce, at the time of the announcement, Nakamura spoke about the studio's office itself saying that it was designed using the same process as developing a game.

The workspace was created in Unreal Engine 5, allowing the team to "walk around and remove things that didn’t work well, exchange ideas and decide on the layout together". And now UNSEEN has shared a brief virtual tour of the office offering viewers an exclusive glimpse into the creative environment that fuels the development of UNSEEN's games.

"So, the office layout was all done with Unreal Engine. Our level designers went all out to come up with the layout design. It's all to make sure our devs have the best possible working environment," Nakamura said. "We kept it all open with no closed-off spaces. We wanted everything to be out in the open so we could see who's coming and going, and so everyone can see us even though the place is called UNSEEN."

In the introduction video which Nakamura posted at the time of the studio's announcement, the developer emphasized that the studio would be multicultural. During the video tour, she reiterated this point adding that the team is "trying to make this office like a real hub for everyone."

Previously, Nakamura said that UNSEEN had already started working on its debut project. It's unclear what this game is exactly going to be but, according to the developer, it will feature characters with real-life personalities including minorities, while its setting will be "open-minded" and will represent multiple cultures.
