Immerse Launches a VR App for Learning Languages

The app will be available on Quest 2 and will offer a number of learning activities including object interaction, 3D drawing, roleplay simulations, interactive games, and more.

Immerse, a startup specializing in teaching languages ​​in VR has partnered with Meta to launch its app for Quest 2 that allows you to take part in live Spanish or English lessons.

According to the developer, the app offers its users the opportunity to learn the languages in the virtual world immersing themselves in the culture of native speakers, building a community, and developing real-life fluency. Every week users can book up to 3 small group experiences, each experience is built in a unique way to help learners build communication skills they can use in real life.

The experiences suggest various learning activities that users can access in VR like object interaction, 3D drawing, roleplay simulations, interactive games, and more. Users will be able to create their own customizable avatar that will represent them in the metaverse.

The app is available on a subscription basis and costs $45 per month. The subscription includes:

  • 12 lessons organized by language experts;
  • 24/7 access to virtual hubs to practice live conversations;
  • personalized feedback;
  • weekly events to create new communities for cultural understanding.

So far the app is only available for learners of Spanish, but the company plans to expand the number of available languages in the future. Users can get a 7-day Spanish language immersion free trial or join the waitlist for another language the company will launch soon – Immerse is set to add French and Japanese languages in 2023.
