The generator was set up by Ian Smith for the WiP Project Pegasus.
CG Supervisor Ian Smith has recently shared a short demo showcasing an impressive new generator made for Project Pegasus. Powered by Houdini and Unreal Engine 5, the setup can generate realistic-looking cliffs from a basic blockout using Nanite to "store detail masks as vertex color", as well as noise masks and triplanar textures. You can check out the full demo attached above or by visiting Ian's Twitter page.
For those unaware, Project Pegasus is Ian's work-in-progress project, which started at Game Developers Conference 2023. Being developed in collaboration with SideFX themselves, Project Pegasus aims to explore Houdini workflows and techniques for game development. Over the past few months, Ian has been sharing insightful demos for the project, which you can see via his ArtStation and YouTube pages.
