Ex-Rockstar Designer Ben Hinchliffe supposed this Easter egg might not have a hidden backstory.
Finding Easter eggs in the games and movies is always exciting, and the fans don't wait to build mysterious conspiracy theories over some of the references. One of the most inexplicable Easter eggs in Grand Theft Auto 5 was the mural on Mount Chiliad with what seems to be alien symbols. In a recent interview, Ben Hinchliffe, a former Designer at Rockstar who contributed to titles such as LA Noire, Grand Theft Auto V, and Red Dead Redemption 2, supposed this Easter egg was added to the game "just to mess with people."
Dan Dawkins, a host of the GTAVIoclock YouTube channel, asked the developer to what extent the mysterious in-game reference was left ambiguous. Hinchliffe explained that he wasn't fully involved in creating it and said: "There's always a desire to put in these really complex Easter egg hunts and trails that the really dedicated players will follow." He continued, sharing that sometimes in-game references don't have hidden meaning: "As with all Easter eggs, sometimes you just put them in to mess with people. They don't actually do anything. You just mess with people, just to drive them a little bit crazy."

The next Grand Theft Auto game is anticipated to arrive next fall. In the meantime, fans try to find any hints about the game, carefully examining every piece of information shared by the developer. One of the GTA fans supposed that Rockstar hinted at the date of the second trailer of a highly anticipated GTA 6 in a picture they shared earlier, which includes a moon in the Waning Gibbous phase. The player pointed out that the first trailer was also teased similarly, which turned out to be true:
