Epic Games won't update the game for the Linux-based SteamOS because the company isn't sure it can combat cheating under custom kernel configurations.
Steam Deck release date is getting closer and with it – more than a hundred supported games. Fortnite won't be one of them. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said the company isn't confident it can combat cheating under custom kernel configurations.
One of the users noted that Epic Games' own Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) was launched for Linux in 2021. In addition, last month, Steam Deck confirmed that it will get EAC and BattlEye support. Epic's distrust of its own product surprised some users.
With Fortnite or without, Steam Deck is going to be released on 25th February and will probably not make you bored with its selection of available games.
