First-Party Xbox Games Will Reportedly Launch on Multiple Platforms

Executive Editor at Windows Central Jez Corden discussed Microsoft's strategy regarding first-party titles in a series of Twitter posts, saying that the company will shift to a multiplatform direction.

"Xbox won't have exclusives going forward. Everything is timed exclusive at most," Corden wrote. He then explained that exclusivity will be limited and decided on a "case-by-case" basis: "If some games are exclusive it's gonna be incidental at best, the "case by case" argument is by and large going to be multiplat, timed, and with maybe a few (very few) outliers."

Responding to a comment in which a user expressed their disbelief that Fable would be released on PlayStation, Jez Corden said:

At the beginning of the year, there were rumors that Xbox would bring some of its titles, including the Indiana Jones game, Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and others, to other platforms, such as PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Later, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer confirmed that Microsoft would officially bring four Xbox-exclusive games to PS5 and Nintendo Switch, but the specific titles were not revealed. Reportedly, they included Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was also announced to launch on PS5 along with Xbox. Phil Spencer explained that the multiplatform strategy worked well and that the company would continue following it. "We run a business," he said.
