This is what love looks like when you 3D scan it.
Do you remember that one quest in Fallout 3 add-on Point Lookout, where you blow up the Chinese spy submarine using the codes hidden in agent Wan Yang's remains? Well, turns out the model for agent Yang's corpse was created with the help of one of the developer's wife, who posed as a dead body.
As the saying goes, "If I had a nickel for every time X happened, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice". Nate Purkeypile, a game industry veteran who has worked on every Fallout entry since Fallout 3 among other major Bethesda titles, is currently working on The Axis Unseen as a solo dev, and his wife kindly agreed once again to pose for a hunter's corpse for the game.
According to Nate, the 3D scan was done with Polycam's iPhone app, and he was very satisfied with the results it delivered.
Last year, we had a chance to talk with Nate about The Axis Unseen, his previous game development experience, and the concept of a heavy metal horror game, so check it out here.
