Mrkarton is working on a stylized story-driven 3D platformer.
Created for Web Entangled Prophecy, this nice fake 3D effect applied to the UI serves not only as a stylish touch but also as an optimization technique, especially for a game with pixelated visuals.
As the developer explained, he utilized a retainer box and HLSL in a custom node, and offered a comparison between the shader being enabled and disabled:

Web Entangled Prophecy is a 3D platformer that tells the story of Mori, a spider girl. Developed as a passion project by Mrkarton and his brother, the game lets you explore the map through jumping, dashing, wall-clinging, and using webs to interact with the environment.
There's also a demo available, which showcases the movement and combat mechanics in the game. Your goal is to collect 6 key parts and defeat the boss while uncovering hidden secrets along the way. Try it by clicking this link.
