Ghostwire: Tokyo creator shared that the new studio will be multicultural and will aim to work in various mediums.

Ex-Bethesda director Ikumi Nakamura announced she has officially launched a new studio called UNSEEN. In the introduction video that she posted on Twitter, Nakamura noted that the studio will be multicultural and its plans include entering a variety of mediums "beyond the realm of video games".

Speaking to IGN, the director said that the new studio will focus on games that will reflect her interests in mystery, horror, sci-fi, and the supernatural. "I find these genres fascinating, and I’m good at them, so I want to keep working on games related to these subjects," shared Nakamura.

She also revealed that UNSEEN is already working on the debut game that is currently in the early development stage. Nakamura didn't go into details about what kind of title it is going to be, however, she said that it will feature characters with real-life personalities including minorities. She also mentioned that the "open-minded" setting of the game will represent multiple cultures.

Talking about the studio itself, Nakamura shared that even the workspace was created the same way as making a game – it was designed inside Unreal Engine 5 to let the team "walk around and remove things that didn’t work well, exchange ideas and decide on the layout together".

Previously, Ikumi Nakamura worked in Capcom and later joined Tango Gameworks where she contributed to the creation of The Evil Within and also served as a creative director on Ghostwire: Tokyo. She left the studio before the game was released due to concerns over her health.
