With the introduction of four detailed templates and an enormous asset library, you can now easily set up your own LEGO Islands.
Among the array of announcements made by Epic Games at this year's Game Developers Conference, one of the most exciting ones was undoubtedly the integration of various LEGO Elements into Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), a welcome addition that enables creators to easily construct their own LEGO Islands within Fortnite.
With this new addition, participants in Epic's Island Creator Program gain access to LEGO Templates, props, consumables, and items for building their LEGO experiences, provided they agree to the additional terms and conditions. Additionally, players who visit these islands have their characters transformed into minifigures, with all their outfits and emotes that are compatible with LEGO Fortnite faithfully recreated in the LEGO style.
If you're eager to start creating LEGO Islands yourself, you'll have access to four island templates that serve as a foundation for building your own LEGO Island using UEFN's variety of creator tools. Three of them (Home Builder, Obstacle Course, Music Concert) come with prebuilt biomes, while the fourth offers a blank starter island, allowing you to start from scratch. Here's a quick rundown of each of the templates:
Home Builder: A little neighborhood where Fortnite and LEGO houses coexist, enabling you to construct your own home or even an entire village using the tools provided by UEFN and Fortnite Creative.
Obstacle Course: An island filled to the brim with different platforming challenges that you can run, leap, and climb across.
Music Concert: A music-themed template where you can use LEGO animals and Fortnite Patchwork to set up musical tracks.
Starter Island: A blank canvas for those who want to go their own way and create something truly unique and awe-inspiring.
Please note that in order to get started, you'll need to be a part of the Island Creator Program and agree to the additional terms and conditions. This entails agreeing to share 15% of the engagement payout earned by your LEGO Island with the LEGO Group. The deduction will be automatically made from your payout, with the remainder delivered to you. You'll also need to ensure that your island adheres to the Brand and Creator rules for LEGO Islands and meets the LEGO Island maximum age ratings.
