Check out Hugo Beyer’s live streams on how to create stylized hills in Houdini.
Hugo Beyer, a 3D artist with a focus in procedural approach to it, did a few live streams covering the step-by-step production of stylized hills in Houdini.
As for now, there are three recorded live streams that you can watch on his YouTube channel:
- the first part covers the very beginning of the production and the graph building. This part covers the basic nodes workflow with curve, skin, copy points nodes to name a few. Hugo also discussed how to create variability of the scene, how to manage the silhouette, and other basic things of the first production steps.
- the second part follows the first part and focuses more on the noise, UV shades and maps workflow. During this part, you will turn your simple curved lines created during the first part into actual walls that will be the base of the future hills.
- the third part dives into the edges approach, working with nodes’ groups and cliff details. You will get to learn more about working with normals and how to create the surface of the hills in Houdini.
The videos are also narrative, and Hugo explains each step and experiments with nodes. The tutorial will work perfectly for beginners and will show the software in action.
