Check Out This Realistic Burnt Plastic Material Made with Substance 3D

Senior Material Artist Lee Borrer shared a new high-quality artwork.

Lee Borrer, Senior Material Artist, showcased his new work, Burnt Plastic material created with Substance 3D Designer, Substance 3D Painter, Blender, and Marmoset Toolbag. The project demonstrates burning, melting, and scraping plastic in Substance 3D.

The artist created a household recycling bin to burn. According to Lee, the materials used were Plastic Scrape and Plastic Burn Lite, both authored in Substance 3D Painter using anchor point stacks. The Burnt Plastic material was authored in Substance 3D Designer. The creator used an anchor point mask in Painter to drive its input and control the procedurally burnt and melted areas on the plastic. As shared by Lee, the Burnt Plastic material can be heavy to work with. In the video, he edited out some of the hangs.

In our interview, Lee Borrer talked about the Council House Material project, discussing setting the material parameters and visualizing decay, damage, and paint color with Substance 3D Designer.

Before, Lee Borrer did a breakdown of his Lockers material made in Substance 3D Designer:
