Charlie Wen Is The New CCO of Epic Games

Charlie Wen, the former designer of God of War's Kratos, is replacing Donald Mustard as the new Epic Games' Chief Creative Officer.

Donald Mustard, the former Epic Games' Chief Creative Officer who has been working for the company for almost 25 years, is leaving this month, and an influential Marvel veteran, Charlie Wen, who took part in various significant projects, like designing God of War's Kratos, is stepping into a new role. 

On Twitter, Wen wrote that he was thrilled to take on a new adventure as CCO of Epic Games and that "the journey ahead promises to be truly epic".

As stated on his LinkedIn profile, Wen previously held positions in the gaming and entertainment industry. He served as the Director of Visual Development for PlayStation's Santa Monica Studio, played a key role as the Co-Founder and Head of Visual Development for Marvel Studios, and acted as the Director at Riot Games, where he led the film department. These experiences highlight Wen's extensive background and expertise in visual development and creative direction across various renowned studios.

As the new Chief Creative Officer at Epic Games, Wen will play a significant role in shaping the popular phenomenon that is Fortnite. He will serve as one of the key architects responsible for integrating characters from various franchises such as Star Wars, Marvel, Street Fighter, God of War, John Wick, and many others into the game's vibrant universe.

Mustard, who acted as the public face of Fortnite, gained recognition among fans for his frequent teasers of upcoming developments. Furthermore, he made occasional cameo appearances in famous movies such as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Matrix Resurrections, and Avengers: Endgame, further solidifying his presence in the entertainment industry.

Last week, Mustard spoke about his departure on Twitter, where he expressed his gratitude towards Epic Games' family and told more about his future plans.
