Explore over 3,000 ultra-realistic scanned materials in Cosmos and take advantage of the improved handling of volumetric effects, texture filtering, depth of field, and more.
Chaos Group has just released a second update for Chaos Corona 12, which was launched last year. This release primarily focuses on technical improvements and introduces some new features that set the stage for what's coming in Corona 13.
Corona users now have direct access to more than 3,100 ultra-realistic scanned materials, all seamlessly integrated into the Cosmos library. There's no need to switch between platforms or perform manual imports; everything can be dragged and dropped directly into your scene.

Regarding workflow updates, a new Per-Camera Global Volume override (available in Corona for 3ds Max and coming soon to Corona for Cinema 4D) lets you set unique volume settings for each camera, offering creative control over fog, haze, and other effects to craft distinct atmospheres from different angles.
Depth of field improvements continue with the new DOF Highlight Solver, which makes reflected and some refracted highlights behave more naturally. This update expands its use in more scenarios, enhancing your scenes' consistency and visual appeal.

Differential Ray Filtering improves texture filtering by reducing blurring in reflections, refractions, and directly visible textures in fisheye, spherical, and similar projection cameras. It's enabled by default in new scenes while existing scenes will prompt you to switch to the new filtering. This feature is a requirement for Toon Shading in Corona 13.
You can also create panorama virtual tours with automatic hotspots through the Corona and Chaos Cloud integration, no third-party apps needed. Customize floor plans, transitions, and details directly from the VFB to impress clients and collaborators.
Additionally, Corona 12 Update 2 highlights 18 new LUTs created by Iraban Dutta. Check out the full list of changes, including specific updates for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D users, here.
