Chaos Announced V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max

The new version offers a scattering and geometric pattern tools, procedural clouds, new and improved materials, and more.

In case you missed it

Previous version

Chaos announced V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max – a new release of its production renderer. The update includes multiple new features and improvements.

In V-Ray 6, Chaos Scatter is now a part of the installer. You can create forests, fields, crowds, and more with the tool without spending too much time and memory.

V-Ray Enmesh is meant to make tileable geometry function like a texture, it's useful for creating patterns such as fences and fabrics, and it uses much less memory than displacement or copying by hand.

Additionally, you can now use V-Ray Decal to add displacement to any surface for even more realistic cracked walls, rocks, embossed lettering, and more.

V-Ray's new procedural clouds system allows you to populate your environment with clouds of different shapes.

V-Ray Material also got an upgrade. You can render more physically accurate rough metals and other reflective surfaces with enhanced V-Ray Material energy preservation. A new Thin Film option helps make realistic soap bubbles, oil spills, and other substances. Also, you can make translucent materials faster with a brand-new V-Ray Material SSS mode.

And if you want to hear what others think about your work, upload your renders to Chaos Cloud Collaboration right from V-Ray’s Frame Buffer.

V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max is available in beta, and Chaos is looking forward to getting feedback.
