CG Spectrum: Creating a Dune-Inspired Commercial

CG Spectrum College of Digital Art and Animation has revealed an epic commercial with a horrifying sandworm and shared a behind-the-scene breakdown.

On the 20th of July, the CG Spectrum team shared an exciting commercial and after the release, they unveiled the behind-scene creation process with pre-production, post-production, and VFX breakdown. The team noted that the scene was created entirely in-house by CG Spectrum Department Heads and Mentors:

"With this commercial, we wanted to tell our story in a unique and impactful way by showcasing the skills of some of the instructors, learners would have access to. Speaking about the benefits of learning directly from an industry practitioner is always useful. Still, this visual medium allowed us to use the language of our audience and demonstrate what learning in a class of one to four can look like. The attention our learners receive isn't possible in a larger group setting.", said Jeremy Chinn, Editorial & CG Spectrum Chief Operating Officer.

For the production process the developers used DaVinci Resolve, Dell, FootageCrate, Foundry / Nuke, Kitbash, Maya, Mocha/Boris FX, NVIDIA, Photoshop, RED Camera, SideFX / Houdini, Adobe Substance 3D Painter, Unreal Engine, Wacom, and ZBrush.

You may find a breakdown with a step-by-step explanation of the production process here.
