Black Myth: Wukong Benchmark Tool Hits 85,000 Concurrent Players

Makes it among the top 20 most-played games within the past day.

Black Myth: Wukong

We are just six days toward the release of Black Myth: Wukong, the highly anticipated action RPG based on Chinese mythology, Journey to the West. Yesterday, the developer Game Science launched Black Myth: Wukong Benchmark Tool on Steam, which aims at evaluating “hardware performance and system compatibility through the real-time rendering of an in-game sequence” — simply put, it allows players to see if their device is strong enough to run the game smoothly. According to data from SteamDB, its concurrent players had exceeded 85,000, which makes it among the top 20 most-played games within the past day.

This non-playable benchmark tool supports setting customization so players can preview the game’s visuals and performance with different options. By the time this article was written, it had received 92% positive reviews from over 2,500 reviewers.

Since we last reported about progress on the game, Game Science has launched a new trailer for the upcoming soulslike. The 5-minute in-game footage showcases combat gameplay and story animations, as well as new levels and characters, that were shown for the first time. Check it out if you missed it:

The game will be unlocked on Aug 20, and is available for pre-order on PS5, Steam, Epic Games Store, and WeGame. We encourage you to follow the developer on X/Twitter to check out more updates.
