All You Want To Know About The New Prince Of Persia Game Is Revealed

It's gameplay, story, and release date are officially announced.

During the Triple-I Initiative presentation, the long-awaited Rogue Prince of Persia was officially revealed with a showcase of its gameplay, release date, and a brand-new trailer. Developed by Dead Cells' developer Evil Empire and published by Ubisoft, the game brings a fresh twist to the Prince of Persia series as a 2D action roguelike platformer.

In this installment, players take on the role of the Prince, flowing between death-defying platforming and acrobatic combat. Set with the goal of saving Persia from a Hun invasion wielding dark magic, players will find themselves revisiting the capital city repeatedly, each time discovering new characters, information, and areas.

The game uniquely brings together a storyline that progresses in a non-linear fashion and a cast of colorful characters. Using the iconic wall-run, players can open new routes of attack, dodge traps, and explore hard-to-reach areas. With the ability to switch your loadout mid-run, the game offers the freedom to adapt to new challenges and enhance your fighting style.

As you play, you'll unlock new weapons and medallions, gradually becoming more powerful with every run. As a roguelike game, the levels are procedurally generated, ensuring that every run presents a new set of challenges.

Tyler Wilde from PC Gamer, who had the chance to play the game via remote streaming, shared his impressions:

“... the platforming and combat feel as strong as you'd expect from the caretaker of the very well-liked Dead Cells. I especially like that you can wall run on the background of the level—it performs basically the same role as a double jump, but in a more Prince of Persia-ey way.”

Rogue Prince of Persia is scheduled for release on Steam in Early Access on May 14, bypassing the Epic exclusive period that Ubisoft has been implementing for the past few years.
