When you first look at The Impressionist's Eye, you see a 2D image in this well-known style. However, you are actually looking at a 3D model textured by artist Aggeliki Katopodi, a.k.a. agee_kat, in a way that fools your eye.
"This project explores the integration of 3D texturing techniques with Impressionist painting methods to create a texturing pipeline that emulates the visual effects of Impressionist artworks," the creator said.
The aim of this beautiful blend of 2D and 3D was "to bridge the gap between technology and traditional painting, producing innovative visual outcomes that emphasize handmade brushstrokes and artistic expressiveness."
The textures of the painting were first crafted with brushes and oil paints on canvas, then transferred into a digital 3D environment thanks to Blender, which was used for the 3D environment and animation, Krita for image processing, and DaVinci Resolve for animation processing.
