Photogrammetry helped PoomdoVFX make it.
Take a look at this impressively detailed 3D model of a crocodile that artist PoomdoVFX, or BlenderOK on YouTube, created in Blender using the power of photogrammetry.
I'm sure you're wondering how the creator managed to make the animal stay still long enough to take the many photos required for a good scan. The answer is truly fascinating: the crocodile is one of the monks' pets, who teach them to meditate for 20 minutes every Friday.

It took PoomdoVFX around 20 minutes to take the photos with an iPhone 13 Pro, 30 minutes to wait for the 3D scanning app Polycam to finish processing the images, and about 15 minutes to clean the whole thing up.
The difficulty with this workflow is that you need to wait for specific conditions. As you might have learned from our articles, you need a decent camera, an unmoving object, and preferably overcast weather for perfect shots.
